Chinese New Year & Sto. Niño Celebrations
in Tai O (HK)
— Brings Joy to Local Seniors

[Tai O, often called the “Venice of Hong Kong,” is a historic fishing village on Lantau Island, known for its stilt houses, seafood markets, and scenic beauty. It is part of the Epiphany Parish, Mui Wo in the Diocese of Hong Kong, blending traditional culture with natural charm.]

A festive celebration combining the spirit of Chinese New Year and Sto. Niño was held on in January, 2024 at the back door of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel in Tai O. The event featured a grand 30-table Pun Choi banquet, bringing together over 360 local seniors, their families, and members of the Rural Committee for a heartwarming celebration.

The feast, ordered from the popular local restaurant Kam Pui, not only treated attendees to a delicious meal but also supported the local business, strengthening community ties.
In addition to the banquet, the English community performed lively dances and songs, adding an extra touch of joy and entertainment to the event. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and warmth, with the seniors especially enjoying the festivities alongside their loved ones.

This special celebration was a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together, share in cultural traditions, and support one another.
